HOME IS HERE CALIFORNIA

Juan is originally from Jalisco, Mexico, but grew up in the Pico neighborhood of Santa Monica. Juan arrived with his family in the United States at age four along with his family and is part of a mixed-status family. He attended Santa Monica Community College and transferred to California State University Northridge, but ultimately enrolled in El Camino Fire Academy. He graduated in 2018 to pursue a career in the firefighter service. He currently works as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and is on the way to becoming a firefighter. Juan has had Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) since 2012. Through this program, he has helped improve the health of his community. Juan's work as an EMT allows him to help others. He hopes to continue doing it for the rest of his life.

HARAN
With DACA I have been able to support my family and make someone of myself. I really think that if it wasn’t for DACA and me being here my family wouldn’t have been here either.

ESTEFANIA
DACA gave me the opportunity to pursue higher education, a job, purchase a car, build my credit, and so much more. DACA has brought nothing but positivity and light to my life.

MARLON
DACA totally changed my life.  With DACA was able to enroll and graduate from a 4 year University.  I also just purchased my first home in California.
