Public Relations and Organizing: E-Advocacy
This internship will allow you to put to good use the skills you use every day on Facebook, MySpace, email, and your personal blog. You will assist CHIRLA's Public Relations and Organizing departments translate their work into the many online mediums availible today.
-Familiarity with social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace
-Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and WYSIWYG editors
-Knowledge of graphics and desktop publishing software
-Sensitive to immigration issues and workers’ rights issues
-A strong writer/editor
-Creative, innovative, and artistic
-Committed to social justice
-Knowledge of UNIX, LINUX
-Familiarity with Excel
-Familiarity with Democracy in Action
-Work with Public relations and Organizing teams in/out of CHIRLA office (computer, desk, internet available).
-Create action alerts
-Update Web site and MySpace
-Grow MySpace friend list
-Create Facebook presence for CHIRLA
-Provide administrative support to Public Relations team, when needed
-Help organizers with administrative tasks in the CHIRLA office including such activities as designing flyers, posters or brochures; creating& maintaining databases; writing letters to community members; and other office-related tasks.
-This internship is flexible in terms of hours.
